Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an ideal time to start orthodontic treatment?

We create beautiful smiles at any age! However, the best time to start treatment is in the pre-teen or teen years. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation no later than seven years of age. Age seven is when the first adult molars start to erupt and the time when an orthodontist can evaluate front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships.

How much does the average teeth straightening treatment cost?

We treat patients on a case by case basis and on the complexity of the case, so there is no flat fee or average rate for our services. Some patients simply need more services than others and some may need oral health treatment prior to any type of orthodontic treatment. We will discuss your total cost and fee schedule after creating your customized treatment plan.

Is orthodontic treatment right for me?

Are you perfectly satisfied with your smile? If you not, you’re not the only one. In fact, only 50% of all adult Americans are satisfied with their smile.
Not all of us are blessed with a naturally beautiful smile by birth. But we, at Orthodontic Excellence are blessed with the talent of creating perfect smiles trough effective orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of your smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites that can diminish the quality of your life.  Orthodontic treatment will improve your personal appearance and your self-esteem, but also your overall well-being.

Am I a candidate for orthodontic treatment?

If you have crowded teeth, uneven spacing, misaligned teeth, damaged teeth, or are suffering from sleep apnea, you may be a good candidate for orthodontic treatment. As long as your teeth, gums, and bone structure are healthy, we can provide advanced orthodontic treatments to help you achieve a beautiful smile!

Why should bad bites (malocclusions) be treated?

According to studies by the American Association of Orthodontists, untreated malocclusions can result in a variety of problems. Crowded teeth are more difficult to brush properly and floss, which may contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease. Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental chipping. Crossbites can result in unfavorable growth and uneven tooth wear. Openbites can result in tongue-thrusting habits and speech impediments. Ultimately, orthodontics does more than make a pretty smile—it creates a healthier you.

How long will my results last? Will I have to get orthodontic treatments again?

Orthodontic Excellence uses a variety of modern techniques and treatment methods to ensure long-lasting results. As long as we have full patient compliance, we promise our results! You won’t have to come back for braces or other orthodontic treatments after you complete the treatment plan we create for you.

Will I be stuck with metal braces?

In addition to metal braces, we offer several options that are less noticeable and even some that are virtually invisible. Talk to us about In-Ovation System Clear Braces, Invisalign, and Lingual Inside Braces.

Does getting braces hurt?

While many patients experience some initial discomfort from having braces in their mouth, they will never experience a lot of pain. We use advanced technologies and techniques that didn’t even exist a few years ago, and these are designed to increase patient comfort and eliminate the pain factor! You will never come to us to have your braces “tightened” because the systems we use work in a much gentler and steady fashion.

How long will my orthodontic treatment take?

The length and extent of treatment varies by patient and will depend on the current condition of your jaw, your bone structure, and your treatment goals. We will put together an estimate when we create your treatment plan.

Why do I have to wear a retainer?

After braces are removed, the teeth can move out of position because they haven’t been anchored completely or stabilized. Wearing a retainer for the recommended time will ensure that the teeth stay in place until the bone and gums can adapt. We can promise results as long as we have full patient compliance! This includes wearing your retainer.

Is orthodontic treatment expensive?

When you undergo orthodontic treatment at the right time, you will find that you end up spending far less over your lifetime because you won’t have to pay to treat serious problems that can occur without orthodontic treatment. Costs vary by patient and we will review fees in detail during your consultation. Our goal is to extend fair and affordable prices for all services. We work very hard to accommodate our patients’ budgets!

What if I can’t afford to pay for treatment with cash or a check?

Orthodontic Excellence offers several convenient payment options. We accept all major credit cards and also offer a no-interest in-house financing plan. We accept Capital One and CareCredit patient financing plans if you prefer to work with a third-party financing company. Our Treatment Coordinator can discuss payment options with you so that affordability isn’t an issue.
