Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – so is confidence

You probably know this girl who looks average but still manages to get all the attention. She has nothing special about her, but everybody thinks she is a real beauty. She is always surrounded by people seeking her attention, and she gets everything she wants. How many times have you wondered what people see in her? Wonder no more. The thing that makes her unique is her confidence. Yes, this girl that you know manages to get people to like her and to get everything that she wants because she has an amazing self-confidence.

It’s not who you are that holds you back; it’s who you think you’re not

Hanoch McCarty used to say that. And he is right. You see, when you perceive yourself in a certain way, you are also programming your actions. In psychology, they call it self-fulfilled prophecy. It’s a rather new concept based on analyzing the influence your brain has on your behavior. If you believe that you are not able to do something, you will unconsciously sabotage yourself. You may try to do that thing, but your subconscious actions will say otherwise. And you will end up not being able to do that thing because you have programmed yourself to fail. It’s the same with how people perceive you.

If you don’t have a good opinion of yourself or your looks, no matter how beautiful and smart you are, people will see you as you think of yourself. Every little subconscious action like your posture, your gestures and your smile will tell others that you don’t believe in yourself. And if you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect others to believe?

Wearing braces can be an accomplishment or a failure

And it’s up to you. If your orthodontist has decided that you need braces, it means that your smile can be even more beautiful. You understand that, and so you choose to wear them, waiting for the time to pass and for you to become a swan instead of an ugly duckling. But you were never an ugly duckling. And you will never be a swan if you perceive yourself as the ugly duckling. The simple truth is that braces can’t ruin your self-confidence unless you don’t have it. And if you don’t have it, start working on it. Even if you are wearing braces and you think they make you look ridiculous, do a little exercise.

Every time you wake up in the morning, stand in front of your mirror and visualize your braces. Make a fashion statement out of them. Make a boldness statement out of them. Transform them. Let people know that wearing braces is nothing to be ashamed of. On the contrary, let them know that wearing braces means that you are confident enough to smile and be happy. You will almost instantly notice people changing their behavior towards you.

Wear braces in style

Do you know the story of the pessimist and optimist child? The pessimist kid received a lot of presents for Christmas. But he was still sad. The optimist child received horse droppings, and he was ecstatic. After a while, the optimist asked the pessimist: “Why are you so sad? Look how many beautiful presents you received!”. “Yes, that’s true,” answered the pessimist. “But this car is not the model I wanted and these toy soldiers are the wrong color. Why are you happy? You only received horse droppings!”. “Well, that’s true. But you know what this means? There also has to be a little pony for me around here somewhere. I just have to find it”.

It’s the same with your braces. You can either stay there, be sad about the fact that you need to wear braces and try to hide you smile, or you can see the good side: the smile of your dreams it’s on its way to you. As for the other people? They will like you exactly as much as you like yourself, braces or not.

So, wear braces and wear them in style. Wear them your way, and you will become irresistible to people.
